They say fortune favours the bold, and indeed, transforming an idea into reality requires that crucial first step into the unknown. The moment creates shivers of anticipation, not unlike plunging into icy waters. Yet, the passionate flame within dissolves all doubts and barriers. Who kindled this fire? It was Katharina Schulenberg-Leduc, an accomplished art curator whose charm and profound art historical knowledge introduced us to Gildas Coudrais. And how could anyone resist Gildas's allure?

Let us begin with our experience of this artistic venture. What would it feel like to surround ourselves with entirely new artworks, specifically the œuvre of a single artist? The results were remarkable. Surprisingly, the most challenging moment wasn't removing our existing art collection – it was existing in an artless space. Our walls seemed to echo with emptiness, and a distinct chill permeated our apartment. The soul of our home had shifted dramatically – as if we'd surrendered a vital source of our daily energy. Yet when Gildas's works arrived, they transformed our emotional landscape instantaneously. The power of art proved magnificent! While each piece engaged us differently, we found ourselves drawn to the more subtle works over time. Witnessing our own perceptions evolve became a fascinating journey of discovery.

What creates the enchantment in Gildas's works? At first glance, their glossy finish – achieved through reverse glass painting – mirrors our screen-dominated world, from handheld devices to wall-mounted displays. His experimental approach combines diverse imagery sourced from media, advertising, family albums, and art history, transforming these fragments beyond their original context and value. Gildas creates additional dimensions by melding reverse glass painting with traditional techniques like gold leaf gilding and contemporary acrylic applications. Removed from their original context, his pieces assume an air of mystery and fantasy, presenting poetry through playful, sometimes ironic compositions that retain a touch of innocence. We invite you to explore Gildas's art collection here and in case of inquiries please reach out to Katharina. Fancy listening? Voilà, tune in to our short interview.

The response to this artistic event exceeded our wildest expectations, with an outpouring of appreciation that left us overwhelmed with joy. We never anticipated that sharing our passion would resonate so deeply with others. We're profoundly grateful for an exceptional evening spent with remarkable guests and look forward to continuing this initiative. If we've piqued your interest, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Yours truly, Margot

A&P sidenote: We're delighted to share one of our guest's perspectives. Our heartfelt thanks to Katharina Chavanne for her surprise article on par.vie (German only).
